If you have a business, especially if it has an Internet presence, customers will be more motivated to buy on your store or website if you offer free shipping. Free shipping would catch the attention of prospective buyers, and if they trust your name or brand just enough, you might just have an edge over all others who might be selling the same product or an alternative for your product.

One can afford to provide free shipping to the customers especially if his products are not bulky and heavy, and is of light to moderate weight only. Your business can make use of shipping which may take a couple of days as it costs less, and customers, as long as it's free, may very well have the patience to wait for it.

It is better to lose some amount of money, and free your warehouse with such items, giving you more space for other more worthy items for your stocking.

It is just a matter of lessening your profit margin over your manufactured products, but still, you are earning with some amount of profit no matter how small.

You can also provide free shipping, if you bundle your different products, and price them collectively in such a way that the cost of free shipping to your business is covered. This means grouping one product, which you have a high profit margin, with other items on your store. This will lessen the effect of the free shipping you will give out to your customers. Having a minimum number of items in one purchase would also help. It is just a matter of being creative with your marketing and sales plan, and playing with the costs and prices to achieve an acceptable level of profit.

If you can afford to provide free shipping of the items you sell - then by all means, do so - this is a marketing strategy employed by many nowadays. Just make sure that you will not create losses on your business because of such offers. Be conscious of your operational cost & streamline as applicable; then have a sound and creative marketing strategy - surely, you will be able to come up with ways to offer such free shipping baits for your customers.
